Good morning,
The first day of fasting while difficult for some is officially behind us and now we’re on to day 2. The sense of accomplishment you felt, that I did it, should ring true to those who were successful in getting to 6pm without food. It’s a discipline isn’t it? Indeed. Yet it is also fulfilling to achieve a goal - the goal of not caving to your minds appetite to feed your stomach. It might seem simple but it’s a huge accomplishment for most of us. Believe it or not, God honors your efforts, heard your prayers and rewards your faithfulness.
Today is the second day of your fast and prayer crusade. You may feel a little different today, as while yesterday was filled with anticipation about embarking on the adventure of fasting for 21 days, today’s efforts may not have the same enthusiasm. But remain steadfast, it’s only day 2, you have a long way to go; and I promise it will get worse before it gets better.
Today’s encouragement is found in Galatians 5:1 "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage". Read this verse and think about it. I wanted to expound on the revelation I received from it, but I ran out of bandwidth so I will leave it for another day, perhaps day 3..
In your prayer, ask God to help you stay the course. Given what’s ahead, it’s a simple prayer but it’s a necessary prayer. Lord help me to remain focussed on my fasting goal, help me to not throw in the towel. Condition my mind to be faithful till the end despite whatever battles, obstacles or devils come my way. I’m in this for the length of the journey so please guide my steps and place a shield about me, be my glory and the lifter of my head. I aim to get from this whatever you have for me at the end of this. Lord, I am reminded that the race is not given to the swift nor the battle to the strong, so help me to be flat footed, to maintain my composure so that I can endure to the end. Lord, Help me to stand fast.
You got this!
