2026 Prayer & Fasting - Week 3 Day 5

Good morning,

Scripture: “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” — Mark 10:45

As we journey through Week Three of our fast, on this 18th day God draws our attention to a quiet danger of the human heart — taking sacred things for granted. We can become so familiar with God’s love that we forget its cost. So accustomed to His mercy that we cease to marvel at it. So used to His grace that we no longer treasure it. Even time in His presence can become routine instead of reverent. Today’s call is a holy reminder: do not take God for granted. Every breath is mercy. Every new morning is grace. Every opportunity to pray, worship, and walk with Him is a gift.

This posture of gratitude extends beyond God to the people He places in our lives. Scripture teaches us to give honour where honour is due. God appoints shepherds to watch over His flock, leaders who carry burdens, pray through nights, counsel through crises, and stand faithfully in the gap. To honour them is to honour God’s order. Likewise, relatives, friends, supervisors, colleagues, and spiritual companions are not random — they are divine assignments in our journey. When we stop appreciating them, we risk overlooking God’s hand in our lives.

Jesus, our ultimate example, served rather than demanded to be served. He honoured his Father’s sovereign will completely and poured Himself out for others. If we desire to walk like Christ, we must carry the same spirit — humble, grateful, and willing to serve. Serving is not weakness; it is worship in action. It is the daily demonstration that we recognize God’s goodness and refuse to treat it casually.

So today, let us examine our hearts. Have we grown casual with grace? Have we overlooked those God uses to bless us? This is the moment to restore honour — to God first, then to those He has placed around us. For in honouring them, we reflect the heart of Christ.

Prayer:

Make me a servant in Your kingdom, Lord. Forgive me where I have taken Your love, mercy, and grace for granted. Teach me to honour You in reverence, to honour my shepherds in respect, and to honour those You’ve placed in my life with gratitude. Let my life reflect Christlike service. Amen.

Stay grateful,
