Day 13 - Fasting & Prayer

Good Morning People of God,

As we continue through our fast on this 13th day, I want to encourage your hearts with the following Psalms as an extension from where we left off yesterday.

“Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.” Psalm 91:6 (KJV):

This verse continues the powerful message of God’s protection for His people. It assures us that we need not fear two kinds of dangers:

 1. The “pestilence that walketh in darkness”: This represents hidden dangers, like diseases, threats, or crises we cannot see or anticipate.

 2. The “destruction that wasteth at noonday”: This refers to open, visible dangers that can overwhelm us in broad daylight, such as attacks, disasters, or challenges that seem insurmountable.

In this verse, we are reminded that God’s protection spans all times and circumstances—whether the danger is unseen or plainly evident. It is an invitation to trust in Him fully, knowing He guards every aspect of our lives.

As we move deeper into this 21-day fast, you may be facing personal struggles, distractions, or fears. Perhaps you’re grappling with unseen worries—like doubts about your spiritual progress—or visible challenges, such as exhaustion or external pressures. Psalm 91:6 reminds us that we are under the shadow of the Almighty, protected from all forms of harm, both visible and invisible.

Fasting often reveals our vulnerabilities, but it also magnifies our dependence on God. Take comfort in knowing that the God who sees the hidden “pestilence” and the visible “destruction” is actively guarding you. The fast you are participating in is a declaration of trust in His care, and He is faithful to carry you through.

Consider a lighthouse on a stormy night. It stands firm, cutting through the darkness with its steady light, guiding ships safely to shore despite unseen dangers in the waves or the violent winds in plain sight. In the same way, God is your lighthouse, providing light and safety amid all dangers—whether they are hidden or glaringly obvious. As you fast and seek His face, let His steady presence guide you through the storms of life.

Prayer Points

 1. Protection from Unseen Dangers:

Lord, we thank You for shielding us from dangers we cannot see or understand. Help us to trust in Your wisdom and care.

 2. Courage to Face Visible Challenges:

Father, grant us strength and courage to face the challenges that are clear before us. Let us not fear destruction or trouble, for You are with us.

 3. Endurance During the Fast:

Lord, strengthen our minds and bodies as we continue this fast. Give us the grace to endure and remain focused on You.

 4. Spiritual Vision:

God, open our eyes to see how You are working in and around us, even when we cannot see the full picture. Let us rest in Your faithfulness.

 5. Community Protection:

Father, we pray for the protection of our church family and community. Shield us all from physical, emotional, and spiritual harm.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your unfailing protection. You guard us from the hidden dangers in the darkness and the visible destruction in broad daylight. As we continue this fast, fill us with peace, courage, and steadfast faith. We place our trust in You, knowing You are our refuge and shield. Strengthen us for the journey ahead and let Your presence be our constant light. In Jesus’ name, amen.

In closing, when fear or doubt arises, speak the promises of Psalm 91 over your life. Declare that God’s protection is surrounding you and your loved ones, both day and night.
