Scripture: “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” — James 4:8

Good Morning,

As we enter Week Two of our fast, God invites us into something deeper than routine devotion — He calls us into intimacy. There is an old hymn with this sweet refrain: “ I trust in God, I know He cares for me,on mountain bleak or on the stormy sea.Though billows roll, He keeps my soul, my heav'nly Father watches over me. Trust is not built in moments of crisis alone; it is cultivated in closeness. The more we draw near to God, the more we learn His character, recognize His voice, and rest in His faithfulness. Fasting strips away distractions so we can linger in His presence, and in that sacred space, trust is no longer forced — it becomes natural.

Many struggle to trust God because they know about Him but do not truly know Him. Intimacy changes that. When we spend unhurried time in prayer, worship, and the Word, our hearts become familiar with His ways. Fear begins to lose its grip. Anxiety quiets. Doubt softens. The soul that walks closely with God learns that His nearness is constant, His love is unwavering, and His intentions are always good — even when circumstances feel uncertain.

This deeper intimacy requires intention. It asks for stillness in a noisy world, surrender in a self-driven culture, and patience in a hurried generation. Drawing near is a daily choice — to turn off the distractions, to open the Scriptures, to speak honestly in prayer, and to listen quietly for His response. The promise is sure: when we take one step toward God, He takes steps toward us.

So today we pray, “Draw me nearer to You, Lord.” Nearer in trust. Nearer in obedience. Nearer in love. And as we draw close, may our lives become anchored in unshakable confidence — not because we understand everything, but because we know the One who holds everything.

Prayer:

Draw me nearer to You, Lord. Deepen my intimacy with You. Teach me to trust Your heart even when I cannot trace Your hand. Let closeness with You become my greatest desire. Amen.
