Good morning,
Scripture: “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you… Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” — John 14:27
This morning i awoke expecting to hear a word from God as i normally do. So far, each morning during this fast, he has faithfully imparted a rhema (a now word) while i waited on Him during my early devotion and prayer. Today, nothing. Crickets, as they say. Keep in mind, I rely on this word because it is what inspires and informs these daily devotions you receive. Without a word from the Lord, unfortunately, there is no word for you. In the silence, however, i learned a lesson which I’ll share.
As we arrive at Day 6 of Week Two, God invites us into a sacred and often misunderstood place — silence. We sometimes expect God to speak loudly, clearly, and constantly. Yet there are seasons when His voice seems quiet. Not absent. Not distant. Simply still. And in that stillness, God is teaching us to rest in His peace. His silence is not abandonment; it is presence without pressure. It is God saying, “Be still, and know that I am here.”
Silence creates space for reflection. In a world overflowing with noise, opinions, notifications, and constant motion, God’s quiet presence becomes a sanctuary. It allows us to ponder, to decompress, to breathe again. In fasting, silence is often where deep healing happens — where anxieties settle, where burdens release, where the soul finally exhales. The Prince of Peace works not only through spoken revelation, but also through holy stillness.
We must learn not to fear God’s silence. Some of the greatest transformations in Scripture happened in quiet places — Moses on the mountain, Elijah in the still small voice, Jesus withdrawing to solitary prayer. Silence trains us to trust God beyond emotions and immediate answers. It teaches us that His peace is not dependent on circumstances, but on His presence.
So today, if you feel God is quiet, do not rush to fill the space. Sit in His presence. Rest in His nearness. Let His peace guard your heart. And pray with confidence: “Prince of Peace, quiet every storm in me.”
Prayer:
Prince of Peace, quiet every storm in me. Teach me to rest in Your silence. Let stillness restore my soul, reflection renew my strength, and Your presence fill every empty space. I trust You, even in the quiet. Amen
Stay still,
